Right, I'm looking for a digital camera. I don't want a ninja flash one, this time I don't even consider a zoom lens important. The missus and I are going half on it, she's going to get the most use out of it and I'll just use it when I need to take the odd snap. I had more or less settled on the Olympus C-150 as it's a stonking price and I swear by Olympus cameras on the whole.
Thing is, no one has it in stock. So I thought, maybe someone else knows of a camera in the £100-£160 range which is worth a look-see?

ReplyDeleteJessops have the c-150 in stock, but it's a few quid more than dabs. Walking to the shop will save you on postage mind you. Otherwise, the lil fuji isn't a bad cam.
ReplyDelete£139 is a lot more than current price. It's £114 on Comet, Internetcamerasdirect and stuff. Found Amazon have it for £105.93 which is the cheapest anywhere and cheaper than where I had it ordered from. I'd love a C350 really but at nearly double the price when we're still pretty hard up, it's not a goer really.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is coming, the goose is getting phat. What's the current EED recommendations on low and medium spec Digicams? Did Lurks get this Olympus in the end? It's £100 on eBuyer now... but I always thought Olympus cams are a bit bulky.
ReplyDeleteHeh, you've not see the Olympus Mjus then... I did get that Olympus but it got relegated to the missus while I bought a Casio EX-Z3. Houmous has the zoomless variant, which is even thinner and might be a bit cheaper if you can find it. Z1 I think.

ReplyDeletemore money? well, pentax got a model called 33wr, which has zoom and is waterproof. vacationcam :)
but if you want lots of zoom (8x+) you go olympus, cheap and they are stable as fuck. minolta has one called z1 or something which is new, but i havnt read any reviews yet, so dont know how it is in manualmode.
other than that, stop being a tight fuck and get a canon 300d. cheap proper slr. just do it.
People buy compact cameras for entirely different things than they buy SLRs. People who have SLRs never take pictures in the pub or a club or something like that, they just break them out to take landscape photos on holidays. Usually with a tripod. These people normally pull their socks up to their knees and tuck their shirts into their underpants too.

ReplyDeletebeej DID mention xmas, and with such a holiday coming you really should get some l33t photo skillz, this is why a 300d with its phat high iso range and massive manual control options would come in handy, eliminating those horrible flash redeye crap pics we all know just too well :]

All of which clearly ignores the fact that SLRs just aren't used for the same sorts of things as compact cameras. ReplyDeletehave you lost all ability to process what you read? a camera is a camera and i simply pointed out some key differances between different types. course, i dont know how informing an idiot like you what a slr does better becomes telling him what to buy. you seem to have some issues with slr´s, might have something to do with dirty old men, your childhood, basements and lots of naked poses. would probably explain your teenage temper though.
