Working? [lurks]

Who's back at work then? I am. It sucks. Bugger all people here and most importantly, no one else in the country is working so I can't really do any more work anyway. Still, better off dossing at work now than take the time off. That way I'll have some up my sleeve to actually go somewhere later in the year...

  1. Me. Plenty to do, but with not many others in, still strangely bored. Been surfing for info on joysticks. May have to be a Saitek FFB.

  2. Yeah, been pissing about on the web myself. I like the Saitek Evo but I'm not sure about the FFB job. I just don't put that much stock in FFB really. I've got a cordless Logitech at home and that's absolutely fab. Thing is, it takes a second to switch on from when you whack a button which is a bit crap for a quick chopper take off.

  3. It's not just that, the more 'quiet' days you have to work, the more leave you have to take when it's busy, thus reducing the amount of work you do in a year. I've only had Xmas day, Boxing day and Sunday 28th off and I'm in every day this week bar New Years day, including Saturday. Sucks.

  4. I'm put off the x45 due to the lack of a twisty shaft (if you'll forgive the expression). Fancied the FF for IL2 Forgotten Battles. The MS FFB is too much moolah, unless I can get one cheap through my GAME store contact. I may have a play with 'Lock On Modern Air Combat' to see how much fun it is flying a simmed up A10, although the manual is so crap someone's produced a third party one.

  5. I just leeched IL2 last night actually, gonna give that a go. Not played a flight sim since... well, the Amiga really. I've got a spare MS FFB if you want one? The one I bought at the last i-series LAN we went to. Also want to see what Lock On is like, you try it first :)

  6. No workee here! Don't start back until the 5th. Mind you, I'm running around after the weans like a nutjob. Probably less stressful back at the desk :)
Oh and I'm guaranteed a roll and sausage at 10:15 at work every day, without complaint!

  7. The annoying thing is that none of the e-commerce lot (like Dabs) appear to be running either. So no toys for me to play with at work either.

  8. Yeah I like FB lots. It's very rewarding when you can outmanouver your opponent & blast him out of the sky & I like the whole completely 3d situational awareness thing. You have to bring a shed load more skillz to the table. (Although I'm still pretty crap :))

  10. Back on the 5th, there was no point the software team going in as we have spanky new offices and there wouldn't have been a network established yet :)

  11. I'm working all the non-public holiday days over this Christmas. New job, so its handy that its quiet, gives me some time to familiarise myself.
On the flight sim side of things, IL:FB and LO:MAC are both absolute class, but LOMAC needs a really meaty PC to get the best out of it, and about 10 hours of stick time before you'll have the slightest idea of wtf is going on.
If anyone is interested in some CO-OP A10 missions in LOMAC, a buddy of mine here and I do regular flights using Teamspeak, so if you're interested give me a shout.
