Half-Life 2 [beej]

I'm enticing flamers and pessimists here, but... Half-Life 2 then. What's the word on screenshots or the in-house developed game engine?

  1. Eurogamer Half-Life 2 Preview - with screenshots. Although PC Gamer made us take down some of them :)

  2. It's a natural progression I suppose; be interesting to see what they come up with - though HL itself rarely held my interest.

  3. Well I for one am looking forward to this. Half-life 1 is still one of the best single player fps's with uniterupted gameplay and no cutscenes. Theres been no real progression in this field and I hold out hope that valve can produce another masterpiece.

  7. Jedi Knight was shit. Half-Life was a fucking brilliant single player game. Valve took far far too long to make the original but this sequel is taking the piss. Could it be good? Yeah, I suppose. I hope it is but honestly the time of getting excited about it is long over, just like it is with DnF. All I want to hear about it is that it's gone gold and fuck all else.

  8. no cutscenes? of course not, the loading times were already longer than the levels, so adding cutscenes would just have been rediculous :)

  9. Bleating Swede playing it on a 486 then :-) The one player game (obviously bar low-grav Xen) was just brilliant right from the movie style intro. The multiplayer was also far better than most fps efforts but was a victim of its own success with CS and TFC trouncing it. Valve say that they want to avoid the set pieces, but frankly I think they worked really well... except I get the feeling that this is what has caused just some of the problems with CS:CZ, shoehorning in set pieces and cutscenes.
